A safari park in Liverpool has embarked on a new scheme aimed at helping to conserve the Amazon rainforest in Brazil.
Knowsley Safari Park has opened its doors to visitors, allowing them to view a wide range of unusual rainforest animal species.
The park hopes to encourage nature lovers to put their support behind the World Land Trust so acres of the endangered rainforest in Brazil can be safeguarded from loggers.
All the proceeds raised through admission tickets will also be used to pay for a rainforest reserve, where a number of species can be reintroduced into the wild.
David Ross, of Knowsley Safari Park, told the Liverpool Echo: "It's very important for zoos and safari parks to support this type of project."
Knowsley is among more than 20 different members of the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums who are aiming to raise around £260,000 in order to purchase rainforest land in the Amazon, located some 80km north of Rio de Janeiro.
The park actively promotes a number of conservation efforts of endangered species through national and international breeding programmes.
