Earlier this week, Ovo Energy announced that more than 30,000 Brits are now the guardians of an acre of the Amazon jungle in an attempt to reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.
Every time a new customer joins Ovo Energy, they will protect another acre of land, which will each save 260 tonnes of CO2 emissions from being released into the atmosphere each year and protect the world's air quality.
Cool Earth director Matthew Owen said: "Backing up affordable energy in the UK with a huge commitment to protecting rainforest means every single Ovo customer is helping in the fight against climate change."
The scheme only costs each customer £3 a year for an acre of the Amazon.
Ovo's commitment to being "cheaper, green [and] simpler" is also likely to help the government achieve its legally binding energy plans to reduce carbon emissions by 80 per cent over the next 40 years.
