CTI Digital has created a website for Rupert Murdoch’s Sky media empire, with the lofty aim of educating schoolchildren on the necessity of protecting the environment, while raising awareness of the plight facing the Amazon Rainforest. The Manchester-based agency was commissioned by Sky and its charity partner Global Action Plan (GAP) to design and build the Rainforest Rescue Schools Challenge website, aimed at schoolchildren between seven and 14 years old in the UK and Ireland.
The site, which is supported by the World Wildlife Fund, encourages kids to take an active role in environmental protection - challenging them to form teams and take part in a four-step initiative to minimise the effect they have on the environment.
It also works to inform them of the devastating deforestation taking place in the Amazon - an area the size of three football pitches is apparently lost every minute - and Sky’s (and its partners’) efforts to save one billion trees in the area and tackle climate change.
CTI MD Nick Rhind said of the project: “We created a website which is able to educate children about environmental impact, but that is also fun and interactive. The website is engaging, creative and is for a brilliant cause.”
